Hi, welcome back to Mixed Messages! Today I’m announcing something VERY exciting that I’ve been planning for a while now – the first Mixed Messages Live event!
Did you save the date? 👀
That’s right, on Tuesday 18th June, we’re taking Mixed Messages from URL to IRL and bringing together a panel of mixed creatives to share their diverse stories.
In a night that will no doubt be heartfelt, hilarious and emotional, we can’t wait to bring you together as a community too.
Hosted by Mixed Messages founder Isabella Silvers (…that’s me, Punjabi, white British), the panel will include:
Co-host of Mixed-Up Podcast, co-author of The Half Of It and creator, Nicole Ocran (Filipino, Ghanaian)
Actor and author of Both Not Half, Jassa Ahluwalia (Punjabi, white British)
Other names may be announced soon...
We'll be talking all things mixed, from how they felt about their identities growing up to the stereotypes they face today, with Jassa signing copies of his new book, Both Not Half, which we will be selling on the night. Attendees will also take home a Mixed Messages goody bag packed with merch, products, books, discounts and more.
Date: Tuesday 18th June
Time: Doors open 6.30pm, panel starts at 7pm.
Venue: Samsung, Kings Cross (Coal Drops Yard, 1 Stable St, London, N1C 4DQ)
We can't wait to see you there! Paid subscribers get a discount on tickets – get the code here.

Mixed Messages is a weekly exploration of the mixed-race experience, from me, Isabella Silvers. My mom is Punjabi (by way of East Africa) and my dad is white British, but finding my place between these two cultures hasn’t always been easy. That’s why I started Mixed Messages, where each week I’ll speak to a prominent mixed voice to delve into what it really feels like to be mixed.
