I interviewed Sophie Williams for Mixed Messages back in 2021, where she discussed not relying on family to form her sense of identity, the fetishised representation of people who look like her and why she’s not interested in being claimed by people who don’t want her.
Now, Sophie has just released her third book, The Glass Cliff: Why Women in Power Are Undermined - and How to Fight Back. The book draws on almost 20 years of research from around the world on the post-glass ceiling concept that women are often only hired in leadership roles when a business is already underperforming, meaning their chances of success are limited before they ever even start in the role.
Sophie hopes that understanding The Glass Cliff can help us face it head-first, unravelling false narratives about women’s leadership and changing the world of work for women forever.
