Hi! You didn’t expect to see me today, did you?
To reintroduce myself, I’m Isabella Silvers, and I’m the founder and editor of this very newsletter. You can read all about my mixed-race experience here.
Mixed Messages is a labour of love, and I work hard to bring you the best and most interesting guests, dropping into your inboxes every Monday at 8am.
Over the past few weeks, I’ve been on holiday, looking after family members, had COVID (two and half years late…), my bathroom flooded and life just got to be a lot. That meant the newsletter either arrived late, or took a little break.
Below is a little video that I shared on social media (if you’re not already following Mixed Messages on Instagram and Twitter, get to it!) to explain why.
Your support means the absolute world, so THANK YOU for being with me over the past two years no matter what. I love reading every comment and reply, seeing every share on social media and building this community. Stick around as we get ready to launch our second anniversary giveaway and for some incredible guests.
I’d also love for you to drop me a comment with who you’d love to see on the newsletter in future. Or perhaps you want a Mixed Messages podcast? A book? Merch? Let me know!
If you do want to support me financially so I can make Mixed Messages bigger and better, you can choose a paid subscription or buy me a coffee on Ko-Fi. All your donations go towards paying for the software needed to keep this newsletter weekly.
So thank you, thank you, thank you again – I’ll see you tomorrow!
Tomorrow I’ll be talking to Sharon Gaffka, former Love Island contestant and founder of The Politically Incorrect and the Girls Know Nothing podcast. Subscribe to get Mixed Messages in your inbox on Monday to find out.
Enjoy Mixed Messages? Support me on Ko-Fi! Your donations, which can start from £3, help me pay for the transcription software needed to keep this newsletter weekly, as well as special treats for subscribers.
Mixed Messages is a weekly exploration of the mixed-race experience, from me, Isabella Silvers. My mom is Punjabi (by way of East Africa) and my dad is white British, but finding my place between these two cultures hasn’t always been easy. That’s why I started Mixed Messages, where each week I’ll speak to a prominent mixed voice to delve into what it really feels like to be mixed.
