Hello hello! It’s Nicole and Emma here from Mixed Up podcast – Izzy very kindly allowed us to take over this month’s Mixed Messageboard in celebration of the release of our book, The Half of It, out July 4th.
We started writing the book in 2020 as an extension of our podcast, Mixed Up, which is focused on race and identity through the lens of the mixed perspective. The book offers a bit of history of mixed people, insight on childhood and forming identity, interracial relationships, beauty standards, the power of hair and asks why we need to re-examine the phrase ‘white passing,’ plus much more.
The book is out next week, so make sure you’ve pre-ordered your copy for the 4th. Also, don’t forget to get out to the polls and VOTE on Thursday!
